Virtually every business owner that I have ever met, are what I call, an ‘Accidental Business Owner’. In other words, I’m yet to meet someone that sat at school, put their hand up at careers day, and said, “Yes Miss, one day I’m going to be a business owner of (insert your career here)…”. Most businesses were created because the owner thought they could do a better job than their competition, and aim to earn the money that they feel their skills deserve. And there is nothing wrong with that at all.
Having spent years troubleshooting for business that were in trouble, helping start, run and sell businesses, I felt I could pass on the practical skills and strategies that I know actually work and have proved successful for those same people. After getting into coaching, When I started these programmes, I realised that many were teaching someone else’s intellectual property, systems and processes that worked for some, but didn’t work for everyone. The best businesses don’t just rely on a ‘Plan A’. The most successful, and growing businesses are nimble enough to move toward the other letters fo the alphabet as their business, their customers and their industries change.
There is so much content, ideas and thoughts out there, that it is very easy to get overwhelmed, blinded and stuck in a situation that doesn’t prepare the business or it’s owner for growth, or lets them achieve that promise.
